We're excited to announce that Eleanor Scott and Marco Slerca are joining NASH Maritime as interns this summer.
Offered in partnership with the University of Southampton, the fully paid internships are designed to give students and recent graduates the opportunity to explore their future maritime careers in a real-world, applied setting.
This will be the second year that NASH Maritime has participated in the scheme with two internships being provided this time.
Eleanor Scott has just completed an MSci in Oceanography with a focus on data analysis. A student ambassador for the university and the National Oceanography Centre (NOCS), she is excited about taking her career forward in the offshore renewable energy industry.
Marco Slerca is going into his final year of an MSci in Oceanography. Already practically experienced in the maritime sector, Marco has previously worked on environmental monitoring survey deployments for offshore wind developments.
Both will be working full-time in NASH Maritime’s Southampton office supporting various aspects of the maritime consultancy’s work streams.
NASH Maritime Director, Jamie Holmes, said,
“We’re thrilled to be offering two Internships with one of our local universities. The scheme is a win/win for both graduates and business.
“They gain valuable real-life experience to inform their future career paths whilst, as a business, we continue delivering on our strong relationships with local universities. By working with young, talented individuals within the region we ensure our culture and workplace environment continues to meet the needs of the next generation.”
In 2021, Claire Conning joined NASH Maritime through the internship programme and subsequently transitioned onto a graduate training programme as a maritime consultant. Claire Conning, Maritime Consultant said:
“The internship was a fantastic opportunity. I got to work alongside specialists in the industry, gain valuable experience and broaden my maritime knowledge.
“Since joining the NASH team, I have worked on a variety of projects including offshore wind farms, tidal energy sites, infrastructure developments along the Thames and travelled to the Caribbean.
"I would highly recommend the internship to graduates looking to start their careers in the maritime sector.”
The two paid internships will run for three months.
