NASH Maritime has been appointed to assess vessel traffic safety management in NEOM waters, commissioned by NEOM’s Mobility sector.
As a leading consultancy in shipping, navigation, and risk management, we will provide recommendations on additional measures needed to enhance safe vessel operations in NEOM.
NEOM is an accelerator of human progress and a vision of what a New Future might look like. It is a region in northwest Saudi Arabia on the Red Sea being built from the ground up as a living laboratory – a place where entrepreneurship will chart the course for this New Future. It will be a destination and a home for people who dream big and want to be part of building a new model for exceptional liveability, creating thriving businesses and reinventing environmental conservation.
As part of its sustainable multi-modal transport system, NEOM Mobility will introduce a zero-emission fleet of passenger ferries and water taxis to connect 650km of coastline and the island developments of the archipelago.
To ensure safety of navigation, NASH Maritime has been asked to determine what risk mitigation measures are needed for the new service routes.
NASH Maritime Project Manager, Adam Fitzpatrick, said,
We’re delighted to support NEOM Mobility in implementing its network strategy.
We initially focused on identifying all potential navigational hazards within NEOM’s first marine mobility network.
We are now preparing a comprehensive regional maritime risk assessment to take account of the additional routes that will extend inter and intra-regional connections longer term.
When completed, the team will provide NEOM Mobility with a register of all identified and assessed hazards, together with recommendations for appropriate risk control and mitigation measures, including provision of aids to navigation.
