Port of Tilbury London Limited was seeking to develop a new berth, terminal, and associated facilities on the land at the former Tilbury Power Station. The new river berth – Tilbury 2 - would form an extension to the operations at the existing Port of Tilbury, allowing the growth of the Port and its continued support of local, regional and national economic growth.
In September 2018, Graham Construction was awarded the contract for both the terrestrial and marine works of this extensive new development.
The marine element included works within the tidal estuary beyond the existing sea wall/flood defences, including a floating pontoon, linkspan/articulated bridge, associated pilings and river-bed preparation for the berth.
Our work
NASH Maritime provided Navigation Risk Assessment (NRA) services during the marine works construction of this Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project (NSIP).
Our team worked closely alongside GRAHAM, multiple contractors and other stakeholders including Forth Ports, Port of Tilbury and Port of London Authority to ensure the marine works were able to proceed with minimal impact on safety or operations for other marine users.
Tilbury 2 officially opened for business in May 2020.
